AI & Editorial Standards
Last updated: July 18, 2026
AI is at the heart of SpotTheFit — it’s how we identify the clothing and accessories in every look. We believe you deserve to know exactly how that works, where it can go wrong, and what we do about it.
How our AI works
When a photo is analyzed, an AI vision model examines it and describes each visible item — type, color, material, and style — and generates shopping search queries for similar products. The AI also suggests style tags and, for public figures, may suggest who is pictured. Every published look on this site was reviewed by a human editor before going live.
AI makes mistakes — please do your own research
We want to be direct about this: AI gets things wrong. It can misread a color in unusual lighting, mistake one material for another, guess a brand incorrectly, or miss an item entirely. Linked products are typically similar items — not the exact piece worn in the photo — and quality, sizing, and materials vary between products.
Before you buy anything, please:
- read the retailer’s product page carefully — title, materials, sizing, reviews;
- compare the product photos against the look yourself;
- check the seller’s ratings and return policy;
- treat our identifications as a starting point for your own research, not a guarantee.
Human review
AI drafts; humans decide. Looks in our public gallery are curated, reviewed, and edited by our team before publication. When we get something wrong anyway, we fix it — see Corrections below.
How we source images
We care about doing this the right way. Our gallery displays visuals through official platform embeds (Instagram, YouTube) served by those platforms, product imagery, or limited low-resolution editorial stills. We do not host paparazzi or agency photography, and we honor removal requests from anyone featured on the site — see our Correction & Removal page.
Affiliate transparency
As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases made through our links, at no extra cost to you. Commissions never influence what the AI identifies — the analysis happens first; the links come after.
